Why I’m Running

Experienced. Purposeful. Integrity. Camaraderie. Continuity.

I served as a sitting District Council member, as the 2nd District Counselor, for 17 years. I am currently serving on two International Committees [Grand Counselor Litigation Team and the International Risk Management Committee]. This makes me the most experienced candidate for the position of First Vice-District Representative. During my tenure as the District Counselor, I acted with the purpose of protecting the brand of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., providing guidance to the District Representative and educating the Brothers of the District in a myriad of issues that could affect our Fraternity. Throughout my years of service, I have been truthful and forthright with the Brothers of the District regarding any matter or issue which came before me. In serving on each of the District Councils of which I was a member, I placed “brotherhood” at the forefront of relationships with each member. Building collegial, friendly relationships with my fellow council members allowed me to demonstrate each of the qualities that I previously outlined. This quality can be recognized in my creation of the Second District Counselor Legal Team, known affectionately throughout the Fraternity as “The Firm”. 

In my role as Second District Counselor and as part of the District Council, I gained experience in creating and reviewing budgets not only for my position but also for other members of the Council and the various District Committees. I was able to gain insight into the integration of activities amongst the committees and to interact with Chairs of each of the committees. Additionally, my years of service allowed me to both observe and collaborate with each of the other council members. Overall, my years of experience have provided me with valuable knowledge as to how the District Council operates and this experience has taught me how efficient and effective Councils should be run.

Representing the Second District as the First Vice-District Representative is a significant endeavor, one that I do not take lightly. I am committed to serving our elected District Representative as a steady, reliable, and loyal partner in his efforts to make the Second District the BEST District in our Fraternity. I am also committed to doing my very best to ensure that each of the District Committees shine brightly and be recognized as the best in our Fraternity. Finally, I seek to play a significant role in making this new District Council an EPIC success.
